Young Jay has come in for a lot of critcism and he does seem to be the scapegoat in midfield. He played 16 prem games last year and 15 of them starts. In those he games he made 828 passes which is alot. Yes, he doesn't score goals but for the kind of player he is, that is to be expected.
He breaks up the ball and clearly passes the ball around. Yes he makes mistakes, but who doesn't at that age, many people see Spearing and Henderson as the reason behind our failings but look at Lucas, look at his transformation. Jay isn't even guaranteed a starting place and yet he seems to be progressing. He's a local lad and where's his heart on his sleeve.
He won 36 tackles last year giving him a percentage of 80%. He even made an assist. He doesn't complain about games either. He's a terrific professional and I just hope that us fans accept him and stop using him as a scapegoat.
Come on, get behind the team, all the players, including Jay. YNWA.
